I just read a deepstash telling me to reflect 10 minutes a day on a tough question. Let me see what my mind has to say for like 45 minutes thinking at the toughest questions I can imagine and using everything I accumulated so far.
Where do we come from?
We are just an expression of the Universe. The Universe looks a lot like a recursive function, repeating itself at the smallest and all the way up to the biggest level. I’m pretty sure each iteration we are becoming better and better until we understand the Universe and there is no point for us to exist anymore. Buddhists call the last level enlightenment. Perhaps when everybody will become enlightened the next Big Bang will happen and we will start our enlightenment journey again, under different forms.
Do aliens exist?
They surely do. Statistically the Universe is teeming with life. We may be the most advanced life form in the Universe or, if not , other more advanced life forms are waiting for us to be good enough to avoid destruction and to make contact with us. At present tense I would not want to meet other life forms as destructive as we are. If more advanced aliens would help us evolve without us learning by ourselves to not be destructive what would happen if we would have the means to make much more powerful weapons? One word: destruction.
What is the future?
Another Big Bang. Buddhism teaches us that everything has a beginning, a middle and an end. We know for sure this Universe had a beginning: the Big Bang. I’m pretty sure that we are in the middle and in the future another Big Bang will start everything again, in a different way. Nothing is forever except change. There is no point in trying to escape this Universe when we realize we are the Universe and we cannot live or die, we are formless. We constantly change, both mentally and physically. When we will lose our current form we will be part of a flower, a tree, an animal as well as inorganic matter.
What is consciousness?
Consciousness is the sum of ideas floating around in the universe. It manifests itself as thoughts. We are different expressions of the same consciousness. Consciousness is more than information, I would say it is a form of informational energy, a type of energy based on information. We are connected with the Universe in all ways, especially through our own expression of consciousness.
What is love?
Love is a lifestyle. You can love anything: your partner, your parents, people, animals, plants and so on. Love is also contagious: once you truly love a person and you prove affection through the five love languages the person loves you back in one language or another. The five love languages are: gifts, acts of service, words of affirmation, quality time and physical touch. The best way is to develop all love languages and to develop them you can experiment with the closest people around you.
Why is there something rather than nothing?
I don’t know why but in that something there is also purpose. And the best purpose is to pursue happiness. Best way to achieve happiness is to love people, animals, the rest of nature and to serve them. You can also borrow the 4 Toltec principles:
1. Be impeccable with your word. Be careful with your words, used with yourself and others. And say what you mean and mean what you say.
2. Don’t take anything personally. What others say or do is a projection of their own reality.
3. Don’t make assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.
4. Always do your best. Be the best version of yourself in any moment and situation.
